Unit A - Incremental Urban Tactics
Unit A is a collaborative live unit focusing on a new form of incremental urban change. We focus on Architecture and Urban designs as enabling structures that facilitate a greater level of bottom-up activity. The students have a close relationship with a live client to better understand their role, as architects, in creating positive change. This year our live client is Nudge Community Builders, situated on Union Street, Plymouth.

The unit has explored radical incrementalism, exploring how catalyst projects can introduce new uses to sites and build to change a whole neighbourhood. From designing the communities’ street party up in scale to an incremental plan for the whole area, the students have questioned how much needs to be built to bring new uses to the street focussing on inclusiveness and diversity.
