Certificate (Part 1)

RIBA Studio Certificate Part 1 - first step towards registration

Certificate Part 1 students work full time in practice during their academic studies. How do people find work in practice when they have not yet completed their Part 1 ? There are an incredibly broad range of skillsets that practices require to bring project proposals to reality. Students on this cohort come from the diverse range of backgrounds, experiences, and skillsets. Students are negotiating the difference between a practice-based proposal and an academic one. Importantly they are discovering the meaning of architecture and its impact and in particular the role they wish to play in the profession. This course of study is a way to progress and expand their current contributions in practice towards greater responsibility. Certificate students graduate with years of experience in practice and the critical knowledge, skills, confidence and focus of a highly experienced Part 1 ready to move into Part 2 of the registration process.
